V7 Factory Mark XX Green Watch Review

When discussing Pilot watches, the IWC Mark series is a must-mention due to its timeless design. The IWC Big Pilot caters to enthusiasts who prefer larger timepieces. My first automatic watch was a Seiko, a genuine model, reminiscent of the classic IWC Mark series design. At the time, I was captivated by the IWC Pilot’s watch. The first high-quality replica I encountered was the Mark XVI crafted by the MK Factory, which has been quite some time ago. Although the IWC Mark series replicas are not as popular now, V7 remains the premier source for these models. They offer an extensive collection and are quick to produce replicas of new IWC Mark series releases. The MK Factory has rebranded to MKS, maintaining their quality, but they don't update as swiftly as V7. The ZF Factory has the capability to create excellent IWC Mark series replicas and should consider offering genuine movement options instead of focusing heavily on the Submariner, which currently struggles to find buyers.

Design and Dial Variations

V7 has introduced three Mark XX models, each with a distinct dial color: green, black, and blue. The black and blue dials retain the classic appeal of the original IWC Mark series, while the green version offers a fresh and modern twist. I find the green Mark XX particularly appealing.

Case Construction and Finishing

The Mark XX's case retains the 40mm diameter similar to the Mark 18, but the thickness has been reduced to 10.83mm due to the removal of the soft iron cover. The case features a brushed finish with smoothly polished edges, akin to the bezel's finish. The bezel dimensions and slope are identical to the genuine model. A protective plastic covers the case back, which also bears a V7 sticker. The central airplane sculpture on the back is attractive at first glance, though differences become apparent when compared to the authentic logo, similar to the variations seen in Panerai replicas.

Dial and Luminescence

The green dial is striking and well-executed, with hour markers and hands that exhibit a strong luminescence, though it's uncertain if it matches the longevity of the genuine article. Previously, flaws were more noticeable on these high-end replicas, but now factories strive for near-perfect dials. However, the case back engravings often fall short of first-class quality, an area that all manufacturers should address.

Movement Options

The Mark XX replica offers two movement choices. One is the genuine Swiss SW300, which comes at a premium price. The other is a Sea-gull movement, visually similar to the Swiss ETA 2892 and referred to as the Asian 2892. It is stable, but the SW300 offers superior accuracy at a higher cost.
