GM Factory Day-Date V2 Review: Luxury Watch Insights

GM Factory has always been a favorite of mine because they consistently make smart choices. Unlike Clean and VS, who are locked in fierce competition over the Rolex market, GM has opted not to directly compete. Currently, the Daytona remains a flagship for Clean Factory and is set to maintain its dominance for a while. While VS is likely to grab more share of models like the Submariner and Datejust throughout 2023, GM Factory's offerings in Rolex aren't considered "super clones." This is a key reason why they don't match up to Clean and VS in terms of competition. Nonetheless, GM is making strides in improving their watches, particularly with their GMT-Master II now in its V6 edition. If Clean had focused on enhancing their GMT-Master II replicas, they might have outperformed VS, but that hasn't been the case.

Origins and Evolution

The name GM was chosen because of their initial success with high-quality GMT-Master replicas. However, with intense competition in the market, the GMT-Master II couldn't become their flagship model. It appears the Day-Date 40 has taken on the role as their standout product. Featured here are the latest V2 edition Day-Date 40 watches from GM Factory. While there are no perfect clones of Rolex Day-Date 40mm available, the V2 from GM comes remarkably close. Other factories haven't matched the quality of GM's Day-Date 40mm. Crafted from genuine 904L stainless steel, the V2 Day-Date carries substantial heft, weighing in at 151.6 grams for the golden model, and houses a clone 3255 automatic movement. The bezel and bracelet have seen significant improvements, making this V2 edition notably superior.
